The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, known as DEVCOM, Army Research Laboratory (ARL) operates under the Army Futures Command. ARL is dedicated to pioneering research and innovation for the Army’s future capabilities.
In collaboration with the University of Maryland, ARL has launched an ambitious initiative to integrate data science and engineering across a wide range of projects. This partnership, backed by a five-year, $78.2 million cooperative agreement awarded to the A. James Clark School of Engineering, aims to advance the Data Driven Engineering Research (DataDrivER) program.
The DataDrivER program focuses on developing cutting-edge hardware and software solutions, including advanced AI and machine learning algorithms and related analytics. These technologies are designed to interact with and extract valuable insights from massive data sets, ultimately enhancing decision-making processes for both humans and autonomous systems. Additionally, researchers are working on innovative data visualization techniques to help users better understand and interact with data, making complex information more accessible and actionable.
At ARL, we are committed to driving technological advancements that support the Army’s mission and improve our national defense capabilities. Learn more
